PMI Talent Triangle® Update
The PMI Talent Triangle is a framework developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) to describe the skills and knowledge that project management professionals should possess to succeed in their roles.
The PMI Talent Triangle comprises three key areas: Technical Project Management, Leadership, and Strategic and Business Management. These three areas are considered essential for project managers to have a well-rounded set of skills and contribute to their organizations’ overall success.
The PMI Talent Triangle® is designed to help professionals in the project management field understand the key competencies they need to develop in order to be effective in their roles. It is also used as a reference for organizations to determine their project management professionals’ training and development needs.
Overall, the PMI Talent Triangle® is an important resource for project management professionals and organizations, as it helps to ensure that project management professionals have the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their roles.
In 2021, PMI® updated the PMI Talent Triangle to help project professionals navigate this changing world of work and embrace more innovative ways of working. Now, the PMI Talent Triangle focuses on the following:

- Power Skills: formerly Leadership
- Business Acumen: formerly Strategic and Business Management
